Creating Your Own Destiny By Tapping Into What Life Mission Means To You
by Rene Tse
Life presents many distractions to steer us away from our true calling.
Learn the key methods for finding out how you can get closer to pursuing
your life's mission.
Are you in charge of your own destiny?
There are two simple truths:
1. A person is either on their life mission, or
2. A person is not on their life mission
What is Life Mission?
Life mission is about finding the right livelihood. A person who is in the right livelihood loves their work and is constantly inspired to reach the next level of excellence.
"Life mission is about your whole life and not just your career, although that maybe where you begin. It is living in a manner that integrates the visual and performing arts, science, spirituality, psychology, philosophy, and technology: in a way that makes life both high art and spiritual
practice."
Daniel Goodenough
If you are engaged in your life's mission you have unlimited vitality. Every person you come into contact with feel feels your natural high. This euphoric state doesn't come from taking drugs. You feel elated all on your own. Work is play. You can spend endless hours working and are inspired to always do better. Your enthusiasm is contagious and everyone around you wants to know how you create wealth.
If you aren't on life mission, you will be:
1) Constantly looking at the clock and can't wait to punch out the time
clock to go home.
2) You will have an illness or blockage in your body. The body sends a signal when something is out of balance. This is not to say that every person who has a terminal life threatening disease is not on life mission. If you aren't on your life mission, you may have very low energy. You may be lethargic, depressed and unhappy. The last sign that you aren't on your life's mission is you are struggling with money.
The majority of the masses are not on their life's mission. This is all about to change. You can make a difference. If you find your life's mission and live life everyday, you will cause a rippling effect. Every person you come in contact with will ask themselves if they too are on their life's mission. Being on life's mission will impact your community in a powerful way.
How do you shift to being on Life's Mission?
I enrolled in many life mission courses and continue to this day to work with a life mission coach. Daniel Goodenough, a life mission teacher said to us once.
"So many people are passively aggressively getting their needs met that
they are not on life mission"
Daniel Goodenough
This is a very profound statement! What he means is that most people are not aware how to get their emotional, mental, physical and spiritual needs met. For instance, I may have a physical need to receive a full body message once a week. Or I may have an emotional need to go over funny incidents or frustrating incidents that occurred during the week with my spouse. Being listened to by our spouse is a form of emotional nourishment.
Spiritual nourishment may come from activities I do every morning like Baquazhang and hatha yoga in my garden. If a person is single and doesn't have a partner, he or she may need a weekly session with a body centered somatic therapist to address their mental, emotional, spiritual needs. Often, we overlook the value of seeing a therapist or coach to get our needs met. Instead, we passively aggressively get our needs met by telling friends our woes and disappointments. Friends don't charge us hundreds of dollars an hour to listen to us rant. However, if you do this often enough you will find yourself constantly finding new friends because who is going to stick around and listen to your problems all day. Please don't take offense by these statements. I am not saying that you are a person that will dump on your friends. Just think about it a minute. Do you know someone in your life that does that? Chances are they have poor boundaries and didn't hire the right resource person to get their needs met. I can't stress how important it is hire a life or peak performance coach. If you are considering making major changes in your life, a coach's role is to help you be aware what some of the obstacles are that you are facing. They can also be your best cheerleaders especially if there is no one in your community that is giving you encouragement or support. I am sure you know the saying no man is an island. We need mutual connection to thrive.
Another statement that Daniel Goodenough mentioned in one of our life mission courses is that every second you make a choice. It's like you are walking on a trail and you come to a fork. If you go left on the road you'll end up somewhere and if you turn right you'll end up some place else. Each second in your life you are either making a decision to get closer to being on life's mission or you are taking a step further from being on life's mission.
First step with working with a coach is to get help identify what your needs are.
Second step with working with a coach is to get necessary funding to invest in your business. If you can't draw from your savings and you know your credit rating is below 640, you will want to visit this site: credit repair help - and consider improving your FICO score.
We need to be self disciplined to say no to distractions and say yes to being on one's life mission. Distractions come in many forms.
If you have decided to carve out 20 hours a week to dedicate to your life mission, it is important that you don't deviate from that. It can be tempting to get a call from your best friend to take you out for a dinner and show.
Connect with your friend after you reach your 20 hours of life mission work. Going out with a friend where you laugh and celebrate can be a way to get your emotional needs met. And that will support you and give you fuel to be on your life's mission.
Everything you think, say and do is connected. In order to be on your life's true calling, you will need to balance your emotional, mental, physical and spiritual needs. Here are 2 books you could start reading: Bestseller Take The Time Out For Your Life by Cheryl Richardson and Find Your Own North Star by Martha Beck. In fact Martha Beck writes a column in Oprah Winfrey's Magazine, O. Next time you are near a bookstand, pick it up and read Martha's column. Working with a coach can help you with your deepest desires. Look for a life coach, money coach or peak performance coach. Living your life from your deepest desires will give you the strength that will guide you closer to what your life's work is.

Remembering Your Life Mission
by Teresa Proudlove
Recently I received a query from a woman who longed to know her gifts which weren't apparent; her life mission; and what God wanted her to do. Her yearning resonates with many people. Soulful matters like this can not be figured-out or forced from the realm of the mind - as I was poignantly reminded of a moment ago.
I had been struggling to write this article for two days. It had been stilted, with no flow and involving many frustrated breaks. I reread Richard Bolle's chapter on finding your mission in "What Colour is Your Parachute," and some favorite chapters from Thomas Moore's, "Care of the Soul." However, rather than inspiring me these excellent excerpts further stymied my writing.
An Epiphany!
At least it did until a moment ago, when I took yet another frustrated break knowing today is my newsletter deadline. Only this time, rather than going and doing something I laid flat on my back upon my living room floor. This is a relaxation, meditative technique author Jon Kabat-Zinn recommends we do daily. As I returned to my breathing, myself, and my God I realized how out of peace I was feeling and how hard I'd been trying to "find" and write "the answer" into this newsletter.
Then, an epiphany! I realized I was trying to "think out" the "how-to's" of finding one's life mission and I had neglected the first most important step... that of finding peace in oneself. If we are working "hard" to find our life mission and feeling out of peace about it all - the wondrous gifts imbedded in our beings are obscured. We need to be in our being (as opposed to our head), to remember our God-given gifts which are the crux of our mission.
Three Missions to Fulfill
I agree with Richard Bolles in that, each of us has three missions. First and foremost our mission is to return to our God, to our peace within, and live from there as best we can. As Richard Bolles reminds us, it makes sense to know the missioner (who gave us the talents and the mission in the first place) before we seek the mission. In this, it is our lifework to spend quiet time with ourselves and our God daily.
Try lying on your back on the floor a couple times a day. Here we observe our discontent, worry and fear and begin to befriend it all as we just let go of the unruly thoughts. Over and over we just come back to our breath and to being with ourselves. Slowly we learn to be Ok with ourselves and get glimmers of peace. Returning to our God, and living in peace with ourselves is the very ground of our being and a mission we humans share.
The second mission shared by humanity is making the world a better place. In any situation we are given the opportunity to be kind, patient, loving, grateful, and compassionate or not. What do we choose? It is our lifework to do no harm and live with as much loving-kindness in each moment as we can muster. Simply, this means we do not cold-shoulder the beggar on the street or cut the car off in front of us. The small things in life make great differences.
Your Unique Life Mission
Through firstly, returning to our own God, peace and acceptance within; and secondly, striving to make the world a better place in all our interactions we are working on the first two missions shared by all human beings. Through making these first two missions our lifework, we grown down into our being. It is here we come to know our talents and see them connecting to our unique life mission -our third mission. Without working on the first two missions it is difficult, if not impossible, to come to our own unique mission.
We do not have to "think up" our personal mission, or "figure out" our gifts. They are already written within us. We came into this world with God-given talents and these are the axis of our mission here on earth. We need to be gentle, curious, patient and observant in order to remember our talents which in turn, connect us to our own unique mission.
Sometimes we are so busy looking for our mission on the mountain-top we forget the only way to the top is one step at a time. We need to remember many of us fulfill our mission working down in the valley - never realizing how wide of ripple we've made until after this life.
So my friends, in closing let us remember that it is HOW we live each step, in each moment - rather than some lofty ascent - that is our mission in this life.

Creating Purpose and Meaning in Your Life Through a Life Mission Statement
by Darbright Ng
Do you feel that your life is directionless, without purpose and meaning?
Do you wish you were doing something that brought you satisfaction and gives you a reason for being alive?
If you do, perhaps crafting your personal mission statement for life might just be what the doctor ordered.
One of the greatest fears that people have is living a meaningless life.
In the society we live in today, it's easy to get lost in the masses, becoming just one of the other faces in the crowd. Many people get caught up with the day to day "things to do" of eking out a living, working for their next promotion, saving enough money to buy a house, take the family out for a vacation, or any one of these things. And before you know it, 20 or 30 years have gone by and you're suddenly 65!
You look back on your life, and wonder where has time gone? What has happened to all the dreams, hopes and big goals you had when you graduated?
It doesn't really matter what you've done in the past. The past is the past, and it will remain the past.
The only thing that all of us can do is to start living life in this very moment, making each day we live an effective, fruitful and purposeful one. And that starts by having a direction and purpose for your life.
What is a Life Mission Statement?
A Life Mission Statement is a written down statement of purpose. It is a statement for your "Being" on this planet we call earth. It's what you have decided to do with your life that creates value and meaning for you.
It will be something that guides your daily actions, your decisions and your direction in life. With your personal mission statement, you will cut through the irrelevant "fats" of life that are slowing you down and clogging your life arteries. Your personal Mission Statement will help you focus your energy like a laser beam and accelerate your progress in life.
Having a Life Mission Statement can be frightening, and yet extremely exciting. Your Life Mission Statement becomes what your life is about, your purpose and intent for your existence.
It's scary, yes, because with a Life Mission Statement, you are required to make decisions about what you're going to accept in your life. That means cutting off the irrelevant and taking on new things that are relevant in accomplishing your Life Mission.
It means moving out of your comfort zone.
Benefits of having a Life Mission Statement
There are many benefits in having a Life Mission Statement, of which the following are a few:
1. It creates a focus for your Time, Energy and Money
We have only so much Time, Energy and Money at one given moment. Without focus, our resources of time, energy and money become diffused and ineffective. Without focus, You become ineffective, unable to build or create anything of appreciable value.
Work gets done halfway when other tasks come along to distract you. Taking on multiple tasks and roles causes you to create low quality work because you're rushed for time. Your money is spent aimlessly, chasing one thing after another with no discernible focus or result.
With a personal mission statement, you have to focus and make better use of your time, energy and money.
2. It defines a direction for your life, moving you in a definite, consistent direction over a period of time.
We are moving all the time. It's just that the majority of people are moving aimlessly, or walking in circles and finding themselves right where they began. With a personal mission statement, you have a consistent direction in life. You'll start walking in a straight line, out of the circle that you might have been walking in your life so far.
Without stating the obvious, moving in a straight line will eventually bring you to someplace new in your life.
3. With a Life Mission Statement, decision making is simplified
You and I are bombarded by situations that require us to make decisions. Everybody wants something from you, be it your time, your energy, talent or money. With a Life Mission Statement, you have a basis on which you can make your decision. Anything that fits with your life mission statement, you give your time and attention. Anything that takes you away from your life mission, you either drop it or file it away for future consideration.
Decision making becomes simpler and easier for you when you have a life mission statement.
4. It creates Energy
When you have a mission statement that you resonate with, it gives you the energy and motivation to get out of bed every day. There is something to look forward to, and there is a reason for your existence. You are no longer an aimless blob of unfulfilled potential wandering the streets and byways of the world. You have somewhere to go, your life has meaning, and you are more valuable because only YOU can fulfill your life's mission.
5. It creates Authenticity, Originality, Identity
A life mission statement spells out who you are. It tells others who you have chosen to be in life. It makes you unique, and creates a personal identity for you. If you have noticed, all the successful, well known people in the world are unique. They are original. There is no one else like them, who thinks like them, who talks like them, who has personally done exactly the same things they have done. With a mission statement, you can stand out from the crowd and make a unique contribution.
A mission statement can and is one of the most important positioning tools that a company or individual can have. If successful companies use it, so can you. A properly crafted mission statement positions you as a unique individual who has something valuable to contribute to the world.
Summary
If you want more out of life, perhaps having a personal mission statement can help in turning your life around. Your personal life mission statement will:
1. Create a focus for your Time, Energy and Money
2. Define a definite, consistent direction for your life
3. Simplify your decision making process
4. Create Life Energy
5. Create an Authentic, Original Identity that is uniquely you
By having a personal mission statement for your life, you might be surprised at what you can truly accomplish over a period of time. And you might be surprised at what your life can become.

With a mission statement, you can stand out from the crowd and make a unique contribution.
A mission statement can and is one of the most important positioning tools that a company or individual can have. If successful companies use it, so can you. A properly crafted mission statement positions you as a unique individual who has something valuable to contribute to the world.

7 Reasons Why Writing A Life Mission Statement Is Vital, For Fulfillment And Contribution
by Lisa McDonald
Do you:
Wish you could alter you life in any way?
Yearn to be more inspired?
Have goals and dreams you haven't achieved yet?
Long to make a bigger difference in the world?
Life's too short to be living with regret. Accordingly, it is important to spend time exploring and mapping out what you want in life. Writing Your Life Mission Statement is an important part of defining the life you desire, including how you want to make a difference and how you will make money.
What is A Life Mission Statement? It is a personal written document which declares what is important to you. It clearly defines your goals, values and intentions which are then utilized to guide your life's direction. It enables you to plan your future, and navigate opportunities and threats which appear. It's the first step in creating the life you desire.
Here are seven key reasons why it is vital for you to write your Life Mission Statement.
Your Time is a precious commodity. It is a finite resource which, once used, is gone forever. Therefore it is vital that you utilise your time doing the things which are most important to you, and enable you to experience contentment on a daily basis.
It can reignite your purpose for living. It can enable you to dream, explore and consider what you want in your life. You can then create specific goals which you can plan and start implementing.
It encourages you to create a holistic approach to your life. Having a Life Mission Statement allows you to incorporate all your key goals, dreams and aspirations in one place. You can then create an integrated approach which honours your key priorities and roles.
It connects you with your values. Knowing your values is paramount for you to feel contentment. They are your driving force for experiencing fulfillment, achievement and contribution in your life. Your values are your reason "why" you desire to be, do and have certain things in your life. They are your motivation for taking the actions to succeed.
You create a mental picture of your objectives. It gets you thinking concretely about what you truly want. It gets you looking at the specific details of what is important, what you want to achieve, and what the finished result will look like.It puts your ideas into written form.
Writing down your ideas gets your thoughts into words. It makes them more concrete and real; and gives structure to your thoughts. In written form you can read it regularly, allowing you to reconnect with it and talk about it with others.
It keeps your eye on the prize. Having your goals and ideas recorded keeps you focused on the big picture of what you are trying to achieve when challenges and obstacles attempt to derail you. It also keeps you connected to your intentions, goals and values.
Creating your Life Mission Statement is a vital part of defining the life you desire. It will also include aspects of making a difference and making money. So, if you really want to live a life of fulfillment, achievement and contribution, then you must write your Life Mission Statement.
Why? First of all, it connects you to what you most want in life. Second it centralizes your key life goals, values and intentions in one place. Third, it creates a readable document which can become a driving force to inspire you to take action towards your goals and dreams.
Remember that the clock of your life is ticking away. Use your precious time wisely by investing it in ways which honour what's most important to you.

Do You Have the Perfect Work for You? Take the Quiz to Find Out
by Craig Nathanson
Why the search for perfect work is important!
First, because no one will ever walk up to you in your current job and ask you! Your family members won't ask you because change can be threatening. This is a question you must ask yourself. Work impacts our sense of self, our self-esteem and our happiness. It starts with asking the right questions.
Does your work make you stressed?
Do you feel like you never have time to relax and enjoy your work? Does your job make you stressed and full of anxiety all the time? Do you feel like you are always under time pressures? If so, this may not be the perfect work for you.
Is your work plain boring?
Do you find your work interesting? Do you look forward to it? Does the day pass quickly by when you work? Or does your work seem non-valued added and you lose interest quickly? If so, this may not be the perfect work for you.
Do you lack control in your work?
That is, do the events of the day in your work control you? Do you feel it makes no sense to plan anything because every day is like a fire drill and you feel like you have no control over your work and daily priorities? If so, this may not be the perfect work for you.
Are you always negative about your work?
Do you find yourself complaining about what you do to anyone who will listen? Do you no longer enjoy the people you work with and the work itself? Do you no longer feel committed to the plans and objectives where you work? If so, this may not be the perfect work for you.
Does your work just seem like endless bureaucracy?
Do you have to deal with endless rules and policy before you can get anything done at work? Does this frustrate you? Are you micro-managed every step of the way at work? You never get to make your own decisions about what and how you do your work. If so, this may not be the perfect work for you.
Do you have a lack of direction about your work?
Do you have a hard time linking your work to your greater life goals? Do you find that your work doesn't align well to your values and personal plans which are most important to you?
Is your work making you ill?
Do you find yourself getting sick more often from your work, calling in sick, wishing you were sick, pretending you were sick? Have you lost energy when you get to the office and have little incentive to start your day? If so, this may not be the perfect work for you.
Do you have little information to guide you in your work?
Does your work lack clear goals and objectives? Are you not sure what it means to be successful in your work? Does it seem like your daily priorities and tasks change so it becomes harder to keep up?
If so, this may not be the perfect work for you.
Now the good news!
I am sure I didn't have to tell you if you were in the wrong work. You knew this already. Sadly, this is the case for a majority of the people who work. Some of this should be expected when you are just starting out, say after college. Still, I would not suggest this type of work for long as it can lead to burnout and illness. But however, after 40 this type of work MUST never be tolerated. It leads to illness, unhappiness and low self-esteem. It must be avoided especially after 40, because it will impact how you feel about your life and sense of self. The good news is you can control this but it starts with a wiliness to ask yourself deep questions about what you want and why? The most important question to ask yourself after 40 is what work you are most passionate about and which aligns with what you are most motivated to do right now and which includes your deepest interests. You can ignore these questions but it will only prolong your job misery. Make today the day where you DECIDE and ACT on a new plan which has work has the centerpiece of your life. As a result, you will be happier, more confident and all those around you will benefit as well.
I'll be cheering you on as you go!
